SUE DEAN: My goal for each of my clients is to establish a plan that they are comfortable with and that they feel proud of and comfortable with and that their family will honor after they pass away.

If you go online and buy a kit for a will, you would be able to fill in the blanks. And if you do it correctly, your estate plan would be carried out. But many times they're not done correctly. And they are not witnessed or notarized correctly. And then the estate plan that you thought you have is totally invalid.

Estate planning for the individual is important because they need to know that everything is being handled the way they wanted and that when they're passed that it's going to be handled the way they set it up. And they need to be comfortable with the lawyer that is setting it up for them.

An experienced estate planning lawyer is invaluable because it can save the heirs time and money in the event of incapacity or death of their loved one.
